AFC Wimbledon Foundation Traineeship

We are once again running our Traineeship programme here at the club, we are again working with the English Football League Trusts chosen traineeship provider GP Strategies (Formerly B2B Engage) to offer the opportunity to young people aged 16- 18 out of full time education or employment.

The number of NEET (Not in education, employment or training) people between the ages of 16 – 24 has slowly declined over the last 2 years according to the Labour Force Survey at the Office for National Statistics. This has been helped by the popularity various outcome programmes like our traineeship programme; with the idea here to engage with 16 – 18 year olds earlier in order to set them on a more positive pathway.

The unique setting of the football club provides an incentive for young people to come in and apply themselves to new pathway or career, this was proved last year where the trainees that we had on board with us completed the full 12 week programme and then went onto full time employment post traineeship. Feedback was very positive from out last cohort of trainees as they mentioned that the programme re focused them and helped prepare them for the world of work. Whilst gathering vital work experience in various departments of the football club.

If you wish to apply for a place on our Traineeship programme or would like to know more please contact

Foundation Day 2016 #ClubTogether

The Foundation had a very successful afternoon at the home fixture v Bradford City on the 29th October. Here there was lots going on in and around Kingsmeadow prior to kick off which engaged our fans of all ages.

We had a signing stand where fans had the chance to meet Darius Charles, Dom Poleon, Dan Gallagher, Egli Kaja, Neset Beliki and Toyosi Olusanya and get various pieces of AFC Wimbledon memorabilia signed. We also had the League 2 Playoff Final Trophy on show where fans could be pictured with the illustrious piece of history. Our regular inflatable shootout was in full swing with fans having a go to win some AFC Wimbledon prizes. Surrounding this hive of activity were our trusty bucket collectors who worked tirelessly, talking to fans telling them about what we do within the community and raising funds which we are putting back into our various projects to aid the existing delivery and even look to start new ones.

Raffle tickets were on sale which gave fans the chance to win signed boots, and training kit from our 1st team.

At half time we had representatives from each of our community programmes walk around the pitch where they displayed banners of various statistics that we have hit this season. We were also joined by members of our first team who assisted in a bucket collection where Wimbledon’s number 10 Dom Poleon immersed himself in the Chemflow end collecting money for the Foundation!!!

The whole day was a huge hit with great focus placed on the Foundation and the work that we undertake. Thank you to all those who supported us.
