AFC Wimbledon Minithon October 1st

minithon.jpg

Get on your marks to join first-team management, academy players, and club staff for the AFC Wimbledon Minithon.

It's all for a great club cause with funds raised donated to the Academy, AFC Wimbledon Ladies & Girls, and the Foundation.

Last year the event raised over £22,000 and we're hoping to better that with your help!

The annual AFC Wimbledon Minithon will again be staged at the club's training ground in New Malden.

Those taking part can run, jog or walk the five-kilometre course. The training ground will be open from 9.00 am on the day of the event, with the first run starting at around 10.00 am. The Minithon is being held a little earlier this year than last, so hopefully the weather conditions will be a little more pleasant for those taking part!

Click on Minithon to enter the event now. You can also make a donation via a my donate Minithon page.

With the academy well represented at this event, our youth section is looking for helpers to run refreshment stalls, inflatables, face painting and a 'beat the goalie' competition. Please e-mail sarah.skinner@afcwimbledon.ltd.uk  if you can help.

Donations of cakes / biscuits and or refreshments will also be gratefully received.

AFC Wimbledon Player Appearance

AFC Wimbledon players passed on tips to young footballers during the summer holidays – and even joined in the matches!

Lyle Taylor, Egli Kaja, Will Nightingale and Deji Oshilaja made it an extra special day at an AFC Wimbledon Foundation summer holiday course with their appearances proving to be very popular on the day.

AFC Wimbledon Foundation Director Philip Rudling said: "The player appearances were much appreciated by the Foundation, as the kids were very excited to meet and play football with their idols. First-team players also enjoyed joining in the football with the kids and at the course they also handed out medals and signed autographs."

Those children who attended also received a match day ticket for the first home league game for AFC Wimbledon against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

The summer holiday courses run by the AFC Wimbledon Foundation are now in their final week, but there's still time to get involved!

Once again, this year it has been a tremendous success with children in the community with our Foundation coaches putting on dribbling, passing and shooting tutorials. As part of the course, Dons first-teamers have been attending to offer advice to young footballers.
